Gingery Math Eyes

This week my class used our math eyes to see math in a photo of 12 gingerbread men. I have created a DLO to show my learning. It was kind of hard trying to find some math in the photo probably because we had just got out of lockdown and I was not that used to work yet so ya. I did not find it very easy. As I was looking I saw that some of there buttons were different colours and their hats were different sizes and there shoes are different sizes then the other shoes. Do you have math eyes?

Action World

On Tuesday 3rd of December we went to Action World where there are lots of different things to do. My favourite activity was the water slide. First, the girls went on the water slide and had 2 turns on it, then we got changed back into our clothes and the boys went on the water slide. The second thing I went on were the small car thing, they were fun too. (I don’t know what they are called). Then I went on the tightrope. I fell of it the second I let go of the side. Then I tried to do the Tarzan swing but didn’t get over Sissy. After that I went back on the cars. Next I got bored and just started walking around, and then a few minutes later I got back on the Tarzan swing and I GOT OVER SISSY!! You have to complete the Tarzan swing before you go on the HUGE trapeze. The sad thing was as soon as I got over Sissy to go on the huge trapeze it was time to go back to school.

Recycling is when you get something old and turn it into something new, like if you had a cardboard box and you didn’t know what to do with it you can turn it into a castle. Reducing is when you don’t use as much rubbish or plastic like instead of plastic wrap on your food you can use beeswax wraps. Reusing is when you reuse something; say you had a container that you can’t recycle, you can use it for something else like a lunch box. Say you had banana peel you would put it in the food scraps, and if you had plastic whatever and you can’t recycle it, it would go in the rubbish. If you had cardboard that is clean you can put it in the recycling.

Popcorn

In my class we were learning how plants such as corn grow. We read books and filled in a table explaining how the plants in the book were grown. Then we made an animation based on one of the stories. I chose the popcorn story to base my animation on.

electricity

Last Thursday, my class had an electricity morning. My friend was not there for half of it but that was okay. The first activity my group did was, I don’t know but it was fun. There was lots of long stick thing that connect sort of like lego. There was a piece of paper with different things you can make. My group made a fan with a light on it. The second thing my group did was the balloon one. You had to rub a balloon on your hair and slowly pull it away from the can of Pepsi (empty can) and see what happens. Nothing happened for me, I just liked the fact that we got to keep the balloons. The last one was the lemon light. You get a lemon and shove half a ten cent coin into one side of a lemon and use a clip that looks like a crocodile on the other half of the coin. Then poke a small nail on the other side of the lemon. Do the same thing on other lemon and then put the lemons in a circle, next put an L.E.D light in a hole on one of the crocodile clips and on the other side of the L.E.D clip the crocodile clip onto the L.E.D and it will turn on. I didn’t get to really do the comb one because everyone in my group was just playing with two combs each and I didn't get a comb.

Healthy Dish Makerspace

On Friday my class for maker space had to choose one, two, three or all things
from our garden and make a healthy dish.  A few terms ago we planted
vegetables. We gave all the plants the right amount of water that they needed. Once the
seeds get put into the ground it gets a signal so it knows that it can start
growing.  First the roots grow down and don’t stop. Then the baby plant shoots
through the grass. Then last but not least the plant become an adult plant
in time. My group (Teah, Jacob, Anika and me) chose carrots for our dish.
The carrots in our garden did not grow very well so we used carrots from the
shop.  I don’t know which shop but I know Mrs Pou got them from a shop.
We made carrot and lemon pikelets with fried banana and maple syrup.
I don’t know the recipe but I know that it was fun making them. My job
was to cut lemons up and decorate the pikelets. We won a prize from the
teacher for the most unhealthy dish.  After the judges judged our food we
got to eat it all up. None of us ate the banana though and everyone wanted
to eat the pikelets but it was our food so we ate it ourselves but after two
pikelets we felt sick so shared them out to some people. 

Geometry

My class has been doing geometry for our math. My favourite activity was Tangram World. In Tangram world you had to draw the shapes that were on the sheet, cut them out and make things out of them. I made a cat. My least favourite activity was Changing Shapes. It was the same as Tangram World, (I liked that) but I did not understand why the fish had two tails or that the house had two roofs but that was the only thing. I learned that geometry can be fun to work with for six days.
